Amazing dark/black metal the ancient way, paying homage to the first few releases by Samael with a strikingly similar sound and style. The best tribute band I have heard and this trio does offer some of their own nuances as well. They don't make metal like this too often anymore. Also see the split further down the list with Canada's Lust.
$12
Anal Vomit (Peru)- Demoniac Flagellations CD (From Beyond)
Anal Vomit... An unrelentingly savage death metal band from Peru, or what happened to me 10 years ago after I consumed a bad prime rib steak at a place called "The Ground Rounder"? The former. This is very South American sounding if that makes any sense. Blasting and brutal. Mid-ranged vokills. The occasional Tom Araya pitch scream. Nostalgic and good.
$11
Andras Andras (Ger) - …Of Old Wisdom CD (Perverted Taste)
Featuring Occulta Mors (former Moonblood) on bass, Andoras is a majestic force of black pagan metal. Pitch singing mixed with deeper growls and mid-ranged screams capitalizes on the diversity of this epic band. Rich synth work and airy progressions.

"Thresholds of Insanity"ť will lead you to the unavoidable end...
This CD gathers the hymns from their never released CDr demo "Desolated Landscapes"ť, and some newer ones taken from the "Nameless Grave" 3 way split CD (not out yet).
Infos & samples available at http://www.animusmortis.tk/
"Thresholds Of Insanity" is to be considered as a presentation of the band, a kind of DEMO CD. Therefore it will be sold at a reduced price compared to a real full length album.
$9

Ethereal and obscure doom from Mexico. Atmospheric synth work and varying vocal styles intertwine for a unique and dark listening experience.

Arcane Necrosis (Australia) - Self Titled MCDr (Profane Productions)
Profane Productions returns with their latest slab of impressive black metal. Strictly limited to 150 hand numbered copies, this 2006 "MCD" is a whopping 51 minutes long. Arcane Necrosis bring all the uniqueness from their homeland of Australia to the table in the form of bizarre riff ideas and a darkness that creeps with blasphemy. Symphonic without being fruity, A.N. is cold hearted, underground BM, reveling in dissonance and cancerous vokills. Special packaging. Get your copy before they're gone.
$6
Arkona Arkona (Rus) - Vozrozhdenie CD (Soundage Productions)
Epic pagan metal that encompasses both black and folk metal elements. Re-release of Argoslent's demo on CD, with 7 live tracks added on as a bonus. 12 tracks in total.
$11
NEW!! Arghoslent (US) - Hornets of the Pogrom CD (Drakkar Productions)
This album completely destroys all the other releases in Arghoslent's back catalog for the sole fact that they have perfected "the riff" smithing that is the foundation of their music. To put it bluntly, there isn't one bad musical moment on this CD and such a dedication to crafting songs with this much potency and catchiness is to be commended! Monster riffs and a tense delivery drives every note home with a power rarely felt in this modern day death metal climate. Completely awesome.
$11

$11
Astrofaes (Ukr) – Dying Emotions Domain CD (Chanteloup Creations)
This is the debut release from one of the Ukraine's most notable bands, featuring members of Nokturnal Mortum, Hate Forest and Khors. More technical and perhaps death metal in structure than their more recent releases, but this is an excellent beginning by a very well developed band.
$11
Ataraxie Ataraxie (Fra) - Slow Transcending Agony CD (Weird Truth Productions)
Crushing and deathly doom is bled out by this impressive French quartet. Think quality, along the lines of My Dying Bride in terms of overall feel and sound production, but far more heavy. A massive guitar tone empowers the memorable and mournful riffs, while a painfully guttural death growl keeps this form of doom clearly away from the gothic romanticism that can infect the European contingent of this genre. Well done.
$11
Atomtrakt (Ger) - Schutt & Asche CD (Mercenary Musik)
Atmosphere bloated dark ambient with black metal strewn throughout. Features Christoph Ziegler from Vinterriket and Nocternity. Fans of Vinterriket take note.

Ayat (Lebanon) - Al Nai Moujrem Moughtaseb Dajjal MCD (Sardonic Wrath)
Necrofuzzed black metal from Beirut. A garagey production heightens the intensity with a live sound to empower the raw crust spewed forth by Ayat. Stylistically, it sounds like the Polish and Scandinavian BM scenes have converged on this MCD to burn the heavens once again. 4 tracks of pure evil and scraping agony.
$9

Beheaded Lamb Beheaded Lamb (Spain) - A Grave to this World CD (Millenium Metal)
Agonizing black metal, simplistic and under produced (in a good way). Pain rises from a unique screaming style. The riffs are almost punk inspired in their barren attack. Fans of the old school underground will like this.
$13
Bellum (US)/Rhune (US) – Vinland Rising Split CD (Horde of Darkenwood/Non Compos Mentis)
Bellum unleashes 3 songs plus an intro. Rhune provides 3 tracks as well. Both bands possess a production that is a step or 2 above a rehearsal recording, but the clarity is there and so are the riffs. Bellum is more of a pagan BM entity in overall vibe, Rhune unleashes more of an electronics meets Burzum form of atmosphere. Programmed beats, somber synths and blistered vocals.
$11
Beneath the Frozen Soil (Swe) /Negative Reaction (US) – Split CD (Total Rust)
Taken from the Total Rust website: This split presents a bitter and unforgiving struggle between the raw blackened Doom Metal of Swedish Doomsters Beneath The Frozen Soil, and the well-known hateful Sludge of New York's gods, Negative Reaction. $11
Blakagir Blakagir (Pol) - Nostagia + plus mini cd "Droga przed egzekucja" as a bonus! CD (God is Myth Records)
Well crafted and atmospheric dark ambient from the man behind the Polish black metal band Hellveto. Rather than rely on a mix of sounds to achieve a mood, a militaristic level of songwriting is used (ie: drums, some vocal lines, etc) to create actual songs. Well done. Fans of Puissance take note.
$11
Blodarv Blodarv (Den) - Linaria Amlech CD (Northern Silence Productions)
Taken from "Metal Archives": This release is Hugin's farewell to Linaria Amlech who killed herself in January 2002. It must not be mistaken as new Blodarv release, however. It is a collection of material surrounding the person Linaria Amlech - songs written about her, photos, paintings and videos (take up track 1 on the disc) of Linaria, her letters and more. The first three tracks are the songs from the "Beyond Life" ep, for the first time on cd. Track 4 is a cover of a King Diamond song from his "The Spider's Lullabye" album. Track 5 is taken from "Murder In The Name Of Satan" Demo 1999 and track 6 is taken from "Mysteriis" Demo 2001. The video of Linaria has never been released before and will not be available anywhere else. Both versions are limited and will never be repressed. When they are sold the story of Linaria ends, at least for us. Farewell Linaria, may your soul never rest...

$8
Charnel Valley Charnel Valley (US) - The Dark Archives CD (Paragon Records)
Raw, epic, and imaginative Black Metal. A juxtaposition between the old Norse Black Metal style, and the more minimalistic approach of more recent bands. Burzum, Hate Forest, Summoning, Darkthrone, Destroyer 666, Von and Moonblood are some reference points, but it is quite apparent that Charnel Valley's loose approach, raw recording, attitude and thoughtful compositions differentiate them from their peers. Ensepulchred (US) - The Night Our Rituals Blackened The Stars CD (Autopsy Kitchen Records)
"Perhaps some of the most melancholy and off the wall black metal we've heard around here in a while...this band originally assaulted us under the moniker The Blood of Transylvania with a handful of lengthy CD-R recordings to which we instantly took a liking to. We also got to thinking how this ghastly trio perfectly encapsulates that autumnal vibe and therefore we will unleash the Ensepulchred debut on Halloween 2006. Most notable of Ensepulchred influences would have to be early Manes though had Emperor had Xasthur as an influence back in the mid 90’s Ensepulchred would likely be the outcome." Taken from the Autopsy Kitchen site
