Gruntsplatter is Scott E. Candey. The project solidified in 1994 after about a year of experimenting. Releases in the initial run came out on Crowd Control Activities, Desolation House, Eibon, Dark Vinyl and others. In 2006 it went into hibernation. After a long period of quiet, Gruntsplatter is fully active again. My process has always been to stitch together elements from the spectrum of noise and dark ambient to create a soundtrack for the ideas at the project’s core.

The concepts are the impetus for each Gruntsplatter release. While those concepts don’t necessarily inform the listening experience, they absolutely fuel the creative process. I love that people take something of their own from the music, but the story hidden in the sounds is what motivates me.

I never expected I might work with some of the labels or people I have when I started doing this. If you have followed what I do or ever given this project any attention at all, I really do appreciate it.
